Pumpkin
You might remember Pumpkin from around a year ago when she was with us. She was returned to us through no fault of her own. She is looking for a new family to call her own. She gets along well with other dogs and cats but if a cat runs, she will chase. She is a terrier mix but we aren't sure exactly which breeds. She is just over a year old and she has a lot of energy that requires a yard to run in and hopefully kids to play with. She has had a few accidents in her kennel but that is to be expected when a dog is new to us and trying to learn the routine. Pumpkin is a sweet girl that just needs the chance to be in a family that will spend time with her and make her a true family member. She is full grown, weighing in at 27lbs. BUCK
Buck has been with PAHS since July of 2025!! He was brought to us as a stray when he was around 10 weeks old. He has grown up here and he has picked up a few bad habits, but none that can't be corrected with time.

He is around 10 months old and he is a very rowdy puppy. He loves to play with his best friend Rocky and he does like other dogs. He is very curious about cats and wants to chase them. We do not know if he would actually hurt a cat. He is also working on not jumping up on people. He gets very excited in the shelter setting and is just so happy to see people. He forgets his manners at times.
He is energetic and would do best with a friend to play with or a household with kids to play ball with him. He does still have accidents in his run over night sometimes but he is a very smart dog and will pick up good habits and training very quickly.
It is not recommended for a home that has free range chickens. We do know he will kill a chicken if one happens to get into his play area.
His adoption fee is $150. This covers:

Microchip
Heartworm test
vaccines
and dewormer.

MECHA
Mecha is the sweetest girl, after running loose for over a year, she now prefers the inside life. Now when she goes outside, she does her business and comes right back in! Mecha is around 3 years old and maybe an Australian Shepherd mix! She does have a high prey drive after living on her own so she will need a slow introduction to other pets. She would make the perfect farm dog too! She is very smart and savvy!
JERI
On March 27th 2025 the Rush County Sheriff’s Office said 54 animals were rescued from “poor living conditions” during an investigation into a report of a stolen firearm.

This is Jeri. She is one of those 54 animals rescued. She came to us in early May. Despite her living conditions prior to coming to us, she is a sweet, lovable, friendly, albeit shy adult dog. She does well with other dogs after a slow introduction. We do not know the extent of how she was cared for before we got her, but we can see in her eyes that she holds no grudges towards people. She just wants to be loved and get attention from any human she sees. She has been fully vetted meaning she is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested-Negative and is on the appropriate flea/tick/heartworm prevention. She is a 2-3yr old pittie mix. She has had a couple of accidents in her kennel, but that is to be expected considering her circumstances before she came to us. Her adoption fee is $150.00 and that helps us cover the cost of all the medical procedures she had done in order to find a loving home of her own and get a 2nd chance at a wonderful life. PAM
Pam is a sweet 3 year old retriever mix. She came to us with a skin condition which was diagnosed as flea allergy dermatitis but it is clearing up beautifully and she shouldn't have any lasting impacts! Pam loves people and has excellent recall. She doesn't seem to mind other dogs either! Pam is ready to find her forever home, is it yours?
HUNTER
Introducing Hunter! This sweet boy loves attention. He has been here since September of 2025. When he first came in he had a very bad ear injury but he is now healed and is thriving. Hunter is around 1 year and 7 months old. He is an American Bulldog mixed with Mastiff. He is really good at listening, knows how to sit, and is potty trained. Hunter is neutered, microchipped, and fully vetted. He gets along well with dogs that are smaller than him-most dogs are smaller than him, he is a large breed dog and weighs around 75lbs.- He likes to run and play fetch.... kinda.....You throw the ball, he will go get it and play keep away. Overall Hunter is a big, goofy, lovable pooch. He would make a great addition to any household looking for a large breed dog to share their life. Hunter has a reduced adoption fee of $100. Onyx
Onyx came to us in September of 2025 and is ready to find her forever home.

She is right at 1 year old and is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and heartworm negative. She is selective when it comes to other dogs and will need a slow introduction to other dogs. We wouldn't recommend a home with cats or chickens. She is energetic and would do well in an active family with kids that are able to help give her an outlet for that energy

She rarely has accidents in her kennel and usually it is on the long wait overnight.

Nova
Nova came to us as a stray on Jan. 24th of this year. She is a very sweet girl and is a submissive dog. She gets along with other dogs and is always looking for attention from people.
We think Nova is a border collie mix, but she does have the curled tail of a husky. She is around 1-2 years old. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and heartworm negative. She is also potty trained.
Nova is a fluff ball of love, weighing in around 40lbs. If you are interested in adopting Nova please reach out to us for more information.
Georgie

Georgie is a 4 year old neutered male. We think he might be a mix of lab and pit. He is one of those dogs that is difficult to tell the breed and all we can say is he is an all-american mutt.
He came to us with his cat friend Mango. For whatever reason their owner left and didn't take Georgie and Mango.

Georgie is a very sweet boy that loves to play fetch and tug-o-war. He knows several tricks and he is potty trained. So far he has been a very well behaved dog and doesn't bark all that much. He loves to be around people and loves to show off his tricks and ball catching abilities!. If someone is interested in adopting Georgie AND Mango together we will discount their adoption fees. They do not have to be adopted together, but since they arrived here in a police car just sitting together in the back seat we would love to see them find a home together.
